Society for Philosophy and Animal Minds

The Society for Philosophy and Animal Minds is open to philosophers and scientists interested in the implications of scientific work on behavior and cognition for traditional philosophical questions about mental states in non-human animals. The Society was conceived in 2005 during the annual meeting of the Society for Philosophy and Psychology, and shares the SPP's objective of promoting interdisciplinary dialogue among scientists and philosophers.

The initial objectives of the Society are:

to develop an online repository of resources that will aid members in their teaching and research efforts;
to provide an easily accessible location for announcements about conferences, opportunities, and new work;
to identify and make available a shared set of canonical work in the field;
to foster debate and discussion among individuals with overlapping interests in animal mind and cognition.
